Understanding Ischemic Heart Disease

Published by Jennifer at 3:14 pm under Heart Disease

Ischemic heart disease is a condition in which the blood can not flow easily to one part of your body.  If you have this type of condition it is quite a serious one that needs immediate attention by a doctor.  Because blood can not flow throughout your body part, that body part can not get the necessary oxygen that it needs to function properly.  When this happens to the heart, it is called heart disease of ischemic.  Your heart muscle does not get the blood flow it needs and therefore the oxygen that it needs to pump normally.

During ischemic disease of the heart, the problem is generally caused by narrowed heart arteries.  When this happens, ischemic conditions happen in which there is not enough blood and oxygen getting to the heart muscle itself.  This condition is also known more commonly as coronary artery disease.  If you do not get help for this condition, it will lead to a heart attack.  In addition to these factors, most of the time the ischemic condition also causes pain in the chest that is known as angina.

Believe it or not, some people can actually have silent ischemia.  This is a condition in which you are having heart disease episodes of ischemia that are silent or unfelt by you.  There is no pain associated with the condition at this point.  When this happens, the individual is still at risk for a heart attack they simply do not have any warning signs leading up to it.  For this reason, doctors will take time to really study the heart muscle and the conditions leading up to that heart attack to determine what is happening in the individual.

If you find any specific help, those that suffer from ischemic disease of the heart will suffer fatal heart attacks.  If you feel that you are at risk, seeking your doctors help right away is the only thing you can do.
