Resolving Some Sleep Anxiety Disorders
Some people suffer from sleeping problems and they may not be aware of it but they suffer from sleep anxiety disorders. Sleep anxiety disorders range from the mild type where you just have a hard time going to sleep as you worry about the next day or something. The worse kind of sleep anxiety disorders is the one where you can not sleep at all and if you do, you wake up soon after and have a hard time going back to sleep.
Kinds of Sleep Anxiety Disorders
There are several sleep anxiety disorders and these include panic disorder, post traumatic stress syndrome and obsessive-compulsive disorder. The three are factors to sleep anxiety disorder. Panic disorder manifests itself as waking in a state of panic where you have difficulty breathing and your heart is pounding. This is similar to a panic attack except this panic attack wakes you up at night and adds to the disoriented feeling. Some people suffer from this kind of sleep anxiety disorders and often they need to be brought to the hospital for stabilization.
Post Traumatic Stress syndrome is a type of disorder that usually follows a traumatic event that happened to you. The traumatic event will have affected you deeply and be embedded in your subconscious and manifests itself as you sleep. Sleep anxiety disorders of this kind is very harrowing for sufferers because they sometimes relive the traumatic events that happened to them.
Obsessive-Compulsive disorder is a state where an individual constantly thinks about things or does certain things which you have no control of. The compulsion to do something can affect your sleep because you are constantly hounded by the idea that you have to do something or you may be thinking of something too much. Others often obsess about having nightmares so they do not want to fall asleep.
Sleep anxiety disorders can be resolved through medical means with the aid of medication. Some individuals, who do not like to take medication, could try to do little rituals before they sleep to prepare their minds for a good night sleep. When these rituals are regularly done, your mind will set itself to sleep as you go through these. Self-hypnosis is also an effective way to get rid of sleep anxiety disorders. Taking a mellow hot bath can also soothe your mind and body and encourage sleep. Regular exercise will also use up excess energy that you may have and the exhaustion will override any sleep disorders.
