How to spot a fever in a young child
(NC)-Young children and babies may not be able to express how they are feeling but Children’s Tylenol’s 50 years of helping parents treat their children’s fevers has taught us some important signs to watch for. Even before they reach for the thermometer, parents can look for the following signs:
. Flushed face
. Hot, dry skin
. Low output of urine, and / or dark urine
. Not interested in eating
. Constipation or diarrhea
. Vomiting
. Irritable or fussy
. Lethargic or quiet
Getting that fever down should be the first priority for parents. If your child has a fever, doctors recommend reducing their temperature by using an acetaminophen based product, such as Children’s Tylenol to make them more comfortable. If the fever persists for more than three days, consult with the child’s physician.
