Congestive Heart Disease
Congestive heart disease is more properly called congestive heart failure. In this condition, the heart’s ability to pump effectively is minimized. Although heart failure is a very terrifying term, it is actually a description of the hearts diminished abilities not actually failure. There are many things that can cause it from having a virus that attacks the heart to having a hereditary factor. Yet, those that suffer from congestive heart failure need to realize that they can prolong their life with the help of several key treatments.
First and foremost there are a wide range of medications that can help the heart to pump correctly. Many of those medications are used to help regulate the heart’s beat as well as help to slow it down so that it can pump enough blood throughout the body. In addition, it is crucial to maintain a healthy diet which includes heart healthy foods that are low in cholesterol as the heart’s already diminished capacity should not be put at further risk.
In addition to this, studies have shown that a diet of reduce sodium will help improve the onset of congestive effects. These include the build up of fluid in the cells which ultimately is what leads to death because the patient ends up with fluid in his lungs effectively drowning from it. In addition, exercise has been shown to offer some improvement in the heart muscle strengthening. This should only be done with the help of your doctor, though.
Those that suffer from congestive heart failure should consider it a very serious, life threatening disease. There is no cure for it, although in some cases it can improve drastically. Yet, the time line for this happening is very short. Through proper management of your condition you can improve your quality of life and extend it.
